Successful Alumni

Perhaps the most visible means of outreach for CAPAS is the publicity it gets when its’ students and graduates display their talents to the public. CAPAS performs at neighborhood schools and public festivals across New York City throughout the year.

Sean Nelson was recruited from CAPAS to star in the widely-acclaimed movie, “Fresh”. Among his other credits: the Broadway production of “The Shadow Box” and on television, “New York Undercover”, “Law and Order”, “The Corner” and several other movies.

Afi McClendon is a graduate who has appeared in several Broadway productions including “Once on This Island” and Cheryl West’s “Holiday Heart”. Afi also appeared opposite Sean Nelson in the movie “Fresh” and has several television credits to her name; “The Red Shoes” and “Ghostwriters”. She is presently a member of the cast of “Fela!” which is currently running on Broadway.

Other students have appeared in Off and Off-Off Broadway productions at the Public Theater, National Black Theater and American Theater of Actors.
